Is this it? Is this really what it’s all about?

Enough is Enough!

February 13, 2009 · 5 Comments

The document was written in ‘a highly technical language’ was the reason Brian Lenihan, Minister for Finance, gave Six One News last night for not reading why Irish life and Permanent and Anglo Irish Bank sold us for suckers.

This is the same government that told us not to be bothered by the technical language in the Lisbon Treaty, they were on top of it and understanding technical language, after all, was what they were elected to do for us.

This country is haemorrhaging jobs at an alarming rate and the only thing the government has done so far to alleviate the situation was to dream up a half baked scheme to curtail public spending by imposing a pension tax on public sector workers.

The ill-Health Service is a shambles, a shameful operation run by bean counters and penny pinchers under the misguided leadership of a clinically obese, cantankerous slob whose lack of compassion, understanding and overall sense of moral decency has cost good people their lives.

But, by far the worst scourge of late in this Fair Isle of ours is the overwhelming attitude of apathy, evident by a 67% voter turnout in the last general election, shared by, what looks like, the entire population and driven by what I think is Ireland’s historical and insatiable love of the harmless rogue. We saw it with Haughey, Bertie and we’re seeing it now with the current shower of feckless rogues.

But, Wake UP Ireland, these ‘harmless’ rogues are costing people their livelihoods and their lives and what’s more, they know it, they don’t care and they’re laughing at us.

It’s time for them to go.

Holemaster and Maxi are scheming.

Get involved or get bent, it’s your choice, but remember, it’s also your country!

Something is rotten in the state of Drogheda (Part 1)

December 3, 2007 · 4 Comments

It was with much disgust that we read and heard about what Bertie did or didn’t say at the Mahon Tribunal and also the various allegations made against Ray Burke at the Planning Tribunal. It leaves a bitter taste of corruption, on my tongue anyway, but it’s not just on a national level that things don’t look right. On a local level, and in Drogheda in particular (my home town) things are starting to go a bit off.

Drogheda is a very historic town, to say the least. Situated on the legendary river Boyne, it has been a focal point for many of Ireland’s major events in history, from Newgrange to the viking invasions and from Oliver Cromwell to the Battle of the Boyne. The town itself has long had a medieval feel about it with remnants of the old walls and gates still visible, narrow streets and a venerable parochial attitude amongst its inhabitants.

All of that is changing however. Slowly at first but more recently this change has gathered pace as more and more new developments are being given the go ahead by the town’s planners. Drogheda is rapidly loosing it’s old world charm, which let’s face it, it’s all it’s got left, seeing as Dundalk, the county town, has two Fianna Fail TDs and gets the lions share of public funding and new employment opportunities, leaving Drogheda, the largest town in Ireland, with a sub-standard rail service that several thousand people use daily to get to work in Dublin.

Most of the recent developments have been residential, turning Drogheda into a sleeper town for the capital’s workforce but what’s starting to smell though is that a fair portion of these new and recent developments were, and are being constructed by Shannon Homes  whose SOLE agent is Thomas Byrne Auctioneer.

What’s up with this? Well nothing really, until you look at the Drogheda Borough Council Website and see that one of our local councillors is Tommy Byrne (who, by the way, appears to be Independent but if you dig a bit further can see that he was recently inducted in to Fianna Fail). Is this the SAME Thomas Byrne Auctioneer, sole agent for Shannon Homes, the company responsible for most of Drogheda’s recent housing developments?

What do you think and what is that fucking smell?

Also, it’s probably nothing but Cllr. Tommy Byrne’s son is Fianna Fail TD Thomas Byrne for East Meath which borders Drogheda so it wouldn’t surprise me if saw some major development happening there soon. Oh wait, we already have, it’s called Grange Rath, and watchout Donecarney, you’re next!

Dig it?

November 28, 2007 · 1 Comment

With all the recent banging on about Bertie the Bollix and his humungous pay rise and the current state of the Health System, I’m hearing and reading lots about how it’s time to do something but no-one’s actually doing anything. Until Now!

Check out DigOut Day and get involved! Anyone who doesn’t will have no right to complain ever again…. EVER!!!! Even if you just send the TeaBagger his TeaBag or fill out his report card, get involved. Me, I think I will go for the whole day off and not only that, anyone I see that morning that looks as if they are going to work I will kneecap! You’ve been Warned!
